Library donor John M. Olin presided over the cornerstone-laying ceremony at Olin Library on June 11, 1960; participants listened to several addresses, including his and Director of Libraries, Stephen A. McCarthy's. The cornerstone box was placed behind the “1960” block on the southwest corner of Olin Library.
