The 2000s Woman
- Title:
- This womenswear look shows a typical preppy look of the 2000s. It is based primarily on Leighton Meester’s style as Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, whose prep school uniform-inspired styles brought preppy to a new generation watching the show. Blair Waldorf is credited with bringing headbands into fashion within the first season of Gossip Girl, and became known for her blunt opinions on others’ styles. This look depicts how prep shifted back into the exclusivity it was born of. Both the Marc Jacobs blouse and skirt were featured on Gossip Girl in Season 2 (2008). The blouse is 100% silk with a collar and intricate detailing down the front. The cape version of this blouse was worn in episode 2x04 The Ex Files by Blair Waldorf. The pleated skirt is blue and purple in color, and Blair Waldorf wore the same one in pink in episode 2x10: Bonfire of the Vanity. The blazer is dark ivory plaid with satin along the collar, double rows of buttons, and gatherings on the sleeves. It is from the Fall 2005 Jill Stuart collection.
