A reception with Mary Crawford, Giok Po's assistant - 1982
- Description:
- A reception with Mary Crawford (pictured on the far left)--Giok Po's indispensable assistant, without whom he could not have accomplished what he had--speaking with Tinny, Giok Po on the right. Giok Po was very fortunate in hiring Mary Crawford as a cataloger of Indonesian materials, in 1967. She had learned the language as a missionary in Southeast Asia, and continued as Giok Po's able assistant and Echols Collection administrator until 2001. One of her principal responsibilities was to supervise the student workers with Southeast Asian language fluency who helped with cataloging and correspondence. Also pictured in the back left is Jim Coyle, then graduate student, speaking with Janet O'Connor.
