Transit and Regional Planning

The Regional Plan of New York and Its Environs was a landmark plan published in 1929. It stemmed from the efforts of civic and business leaders in the early 1920s to plan for the metropolitan area's growth. Extensive transportation plans emphasized access to the areas outside of the core. The plan also outlined a network of parks and open spaces and the placement of industrial, commercial, and residential uses.
