Nap Lajoie

Nap Lajoie

Imagine, if you will, Alex Rodriguez raising chickens during the off-season. Nap Lajoie was an early Major League baseball superstar; in 1901, playing for the Philadelphia Athletics, Lajoie led the league in hits, runs, runs batted in, singles, doubles, homers, and times on base. His batting average that year was .426. He was so dominant, in fact, that on May 23 of that season he became the first player in baseball history to be intentionally walked with the bases loaded. Nap Lajoie played in the major leagues for 21 years, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1937.
