Waterers

Many of the early poultry-keeping texts shared ideas for the construction of shelters and other paraphernalia. Just one of these waterers - illustrated in the 1871 book, The People’s Practical Poultry Book, by William M. Lewis - was commercially made. The others could be assembled from material found around the house and farm: a barrel, a bottle, an old bowl, scrap wood.
