Fashion
Dr. Brothers’ expertise was far-reaching, particularly as it related to women’s lives. In the 1960s through 1980s, this meant that she was involved in the world of fashion and design. She was a hired consultant for interior manufacturing companies such as Magee Carpet Company. Her show, Living Easy with Dr. Joyce Brothers, was produced and sponsored by Trevira fabric. She offered advice on creating a calm environment through colors and the psychology of how one dresses, and joined the Garanimals marketing team to help promote self-image and choice for children. Some of her cameos, including her appearance in Troop Beverly Hills, involved her in a fashion show or discussing fashion.

Trevira Times with Brothers on cover, [1972].
Living Easy with Dr. Joyce Brothers aired in 1972. She discussed the latest season’s fashions with celebrity guests, in addition to relationship and family advice. The show was produced by Hoescht Trevira Fibers. The company hired Al Hirschfeld to draw a caricature to be used as publicity for the show, a design which was also used for later projects by and about Dr. Brothers.
