"If Shakespeare had to go on an author tour to promote Romeo and Juliet, he never would have written Macbeth." - Dr. Joyce Brothers

Dr. Joyce Brothers was nothing short of prolific in her publications. In addition to the ten books she wrote, she was a regular columnist in Good Housekeeping for forty years, had her own daily advice column next to “Dear Abby” in over 300 newspapers, wrote pamphlets and publications for various companies, and frequently contributed to publications such as Parade Magazine.

Dr. Brothers had an extraordinarily intricate filing system, a work of art in its own right. Her research files consisted of index cards, organized alphabetically by topic, with clippings from various research journals and magazines attached. She would pull a topic from the thousands of cards, which she called the “Tobies” after an assistant of hers, and brush up on up-to-date research for lectures, talk shows, and articles. These cards are now kept within her archival collection.
