Frances Perkins and the New Deal

This exhibit focuses on Frances Perkins, the first woman cabinet member as Secretary of Labor, fought for the rights of working people. She is credited with the establishment of minimum wage, shorter work weeks, Social Security, and improving workplace safety. It highlights her time as a visiting professor at Cornell ILR School teaching on different topics related to labor history.

This online exhibit is based on the physical exhibit curated by Steven Calco (Interim Assistant Director for the Kheel Center) and Katie Keegan (Reference Assistant), which was on display at the Kheel Center for Labor-Management Documentation and Archives, Cornell University Library. The online exhibit was created by Katie Keegan.
