Wood Thrush Perched in Flowering Crabapple

In spring flowering crabapples draw numerous birds and insect pollinators, including native bees and honey-bees. Wood Thrushes are primarily ground feeders, scratching through the leaf litter under trees and shrubs, but in fall they also eat crabapple fruits, as do waxwings, robins, catbirds, bluebirds, vireos and others.
