George Barbier made his name with an edition de luxe of illustrations portraying Nijinsky, star dancer of the famed Ballets Russes, in costume for his parts. In addition to his fashion illustrations – almost exclusively of House of Worth designs – Barbier contributed numerous articles to Gazette du Bon Ton.
