This section features two different types of printed designs: silk screen printing and sublimation printing (more accurately termed dye diffusion). The dress below to the left was designed by Jill Stuart for her 2010 spring collection and features a Barn Owl (Tyto alba), which has been screen printed onto fabric and then appliqued over the shoulder seam. The ensemble below to the right is a textile design by Hilde Smith for BodyMap, a popular Post-Punk, New Romantic brand worn by London club kids in the mid-1980s. The design features mythical birds in addition to a cock fight and has been rendered on a spandex-polyester blend using sublimation printing.
