Recent Changes

In 2015, the Library’s Alumni Affairs and Development Office launched a campaign to “Bring Back Light to A D White,” eliciting contributions from students, alumni, and staff to improve the provision of outlets for laptops and other devices and upgrade light fixtures in the A. D. White Library. In just over two months, the campaign far exceeded its original goals and raised $42,100 from 248 individual donors, an amount the Library matched. These funds were used to replace the carpet, add wall sconces and desk lamps (with outlets), and refinish the original furniture that has been part of the room since it opened in 1891. The White Library’s facelift has preserved the historic character that alumni have loved for over 125 years while giving current students the connectivity and comfort they need to carry out scholarship in the 21st century.
